Tempo slows as offense continues to work

Belichick said the team was allowed to be in full pads for a third straight practice but opted to go with shells anyway. It’s possible that he didn’t want to face a situation where the team wasn’t in pads on Thursday ahead of Friday night’s in-stadium practice that typically features a lot of situational work in a walkthrough setting. That would mean two straight days without contact before Saturday’s off day.

Either way, the lower intensity practice is offered a chance for some fine-tuning, particularly on offense. There seemed to be an emphasis on the zone running game, both inside and out, which has been a problem in the early going as the players get adjusted to some new schemes. There looked to be some progress made in that regard as Damien Harris, Ty Montgomery and rookie Kevin Harris saw a little more daylight than they have in recent days.

What Remote Work Debate? They’ve Been Back at the Office for a While.

Gabe Tucker, 26, is a lawyer with Fortif Law Partners in Birmingham, Ala., where the share of job listings that permit remote work is roughly half that of New York’s. Every morning, Mr. Tucker puts on a button-down shirt, drives for 15 minutes and arrives at the office around 8. His routine, in other words, remains identical to the one he had before the pandemic (with the exception of no longer having to wear a tie ). In the evenings, he and his colleagues sometimes make a toast to celebrate the closing of a deal. They’ve been back in the office since June 2020, with masks and other Covid precautions.

“It’s work like normal, pretty much,” Mr. Tucker said. “We found it difficult to be working remotely. We all enjoy being around each other.”

San Francisco’s office occupancy is at 39 percent of its prepandemic level, and New York’s is

She-Hulk’s creators and star voice support for VFX unions

She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany, series creator Jessica Gao, and producer Kat Coiro have spoken out about CGI criticisms levied at the show, as well as their own concerns over the treatment of visual effects workers. The trio’s comments on the issues came during She-Hulk‘s panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday.

Over the last several weeks, several stories have come out from VFX house and their employees accusing Disney of being particularly difficult to work with. According to the stories, Disney often creates bidding wars on its projects, driving prices lower thanks to its size and power in the industry. This leads to smaller teams on each project, increasing the demand for working hours. On top of that, Disney also frequently demands changes extremely late in the process, which causes artists to work even worse hours, the anonymous employees say.

“I feel incredibly deferential to

Spotify says turnover is down from pre-pandemic levels thanks to ‘Work From Anywhere’ strategy

In February 2021, Spotify announced its new work model called “Work From Anywhere.” The policy lets employees determine how often they work from the office and where they work, as long as the company has an operation there. The audio streaming service also changed how it sets salary bands, calibrating them by country instead of city or region—a benefit surely appreciated by employees, around 6% of whom moved after the policy’s statement.

More than a year later, Spotify says it’s experienced lower turnover compared to pre-pandemic levels and increased diverse representation. It is expanded beyond New York and California and is now registered in 42 US states. In Europe, the platform has increased its presence outside its Stockholm headquarters to Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.

Spotify credits these changes to its return-to-office initiative. Attrition at the company was 15% lower in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same

The 10 veteran ex-Lakers from 2021-22 still looking for work this offseason

If the theme for the Los Angeles Lakers’ free agency direction last summer was established and familiar, then the profile of LA’s signing haul this offseason can best be described as fresh and emerging.

“I think we’ve gotten younger, I think we’ve gotten faster, I think we’ve gotten hungrier,” new Lakers coach Darvin Ham said of his team’s free agency class headlined by Lonnie Walker IV (23), Troy Brown Jr . (23), Thomas Bryant (25), Damian Jones (27) and Juan Toscano-Anderson (29).

Contrast that to 2021, when nine players the Lakers signed were age 30 or older on veteran-minimum contracts — with six of them having prior experience with the franchise. Not to mention the two additional players in their 30s that LA signed to 10-day contracts when COVID-19 compromised the team midseason, one of whom — Isaiah Thomas — was also coming back for a second stint with the
